A Sombrero For Santa
A Sombrero for Santa
Song # 1. “A Sombrero for Santa”
Santa’s goin’ down to a Mexican town
where he’s gonna learn Spanish you see.
Santa’s going down to a Mexican town
where he’ll learn to speak perfectly.
Missus Claus and the elves are rarin’ to go,
they’re headin’ down to Mexico.
They’re gonna spread some Christmas cheer.
It’s a sombrero for Santa this year.
Missus Claus and the elves are ready for fun ….
and baskin’ in the blazin’ sun.
They’re gonna spread some Christmas cheer.
It’s a sombrero for santa. Sombrero for Santa.
Som….bre….ro ….for….. San…..ta….. this… year.
OLE!
Narrator 1 This North Pole adventure began, we confess
with a problem that Santa just had to address.
Narrator 2 Letters in Spanish from boys and girls
kept on arriving from all ‘round the world
Narrator 3 Not speaking Spanish was starting to be a major
problem for Santa you see.
Narrator 4 A modern day Santa, according to statistics
Must be well versed in all kinds of linguistics
Narrator 5 And Santa Claus being a clever old man,
Came up with a very original plan.
Elf 4 Come on, everyone, let’s get packed right away
I’ll go get my mittens, my skis and my sleigh
Elf 5 You silly elf! Didn’t you know?
It doesn’t snow in Mexico!
Elf 6 It’s 100 degrees till the hot sun fades
So pack up your swimsuit, some lotion and shades
Scene 1 – Santa’s Workshop
Santa. These letters I’m getting have made it quite clear.
Learning Spanish must be my goal for this year.
Elf 1 I’ve heard the best way to get the language down
Is to live among the natives in a small, little town.
Elf 2 I’ve got it, I’ve got it! Santa, I know.
Why don’t we fly down to Mexico?
Elf 3 We’ll stay in a village, it’ll be super
Soon we’ll speak Spanish just like a trooper
Mrs. Claus A Mexican vacation? What a delight!
We’ll go swimming and sunning all day and night.
Santa No! This is a business trip. Stick to the facts.
Then we can deduct it from our income tax.
Song 2. “Gonna Need Shades
We’re going south of the border
where the warm winds blow
We’ll spend some time in sunny Mexico
We’ll stay out late until the hot sun fades
Everybody better wear your shades. Wear your shades.
We’re gonna all need shades……
Wear your shades…… until that hot sun fades…..
We better go get a visor and some sunscreen too.
We’ll be red as a beet when the day is through.
We’ll stay out late until the hot sun fades
Everybody better wear your shades. Wear your shades.
We’re gonna all need shades……Wear your shades……
until that hot sun fades….. YEAH!
Narrator 6 Soon they all left for their Mexican tour
Leaving Rudolf and the reindeer to mind the store.
Narrator 7 And when they arrived in town you can bet
they were given a welcome they’d never forget!
Scene 2 – Arrival in Mexico
Mayor Santa and friends, we’re so glad to meet you.
All of our village has come out to greet you.
As mayor, I speak on the city’s behalf
May we all please have your autograph?
Just kidding, Santa, welcome to town.
And now it’s our pleasure to show you around.
But first, dear friends, some holiday cheer
With a song we’ve written to welcome you here.
